A friend since elementary school had one and once I was renting a room from him. He had a 8 year old girl.
One morning as i was going to work , i opened the door to my truck and it attacked. As it gave warning growl crouched and ran at me, I turned around grabbed a shovel from the back of my truck and as it clamped on the back of my leg I jabbed the dog in the neck with a downward poke to the rear of me giving it a 1-1/2 inch deep cut and it released, I chased it around the yard trying to kill it , but it was too fast. I had a deep bruise and slight cut in the back of my leg and it ripped my jeans all the way down . Just as I had it cornered and was going in for the kill with the shovel, my freind came out and said "what are you doing....stop".
he took it to the vet and got it stitches and wanted me to pay ! I told him I would not pay and will kill the dog at the first opportunity. This led to an arguement and I moved out a few days later.
Excellent approach to dealing with this dog.
