WATERBURY A spokesman for the Department of Public Health confirmed Tuesday it is investigating the actions of Tammy Labrecque, a 42-year-old practical nurse accused of manhandling her quadriplegic patient.
Labrecque was arrested earlier this month after a conservator for the estate of a 63-year-old paralyzed man supplied police with a video allegedly showing her abusing her former patient.
Police said Labrecque, of 72 Media Ave., was seen on tape cursing at the patient, throwing him down on the bed, forcing his arm above his head, slapping him across the arm and legs and threatening to hit him, break his finger and tie him down.
Labrecque, who was charged with intentional cruelty to persons, was arraigned Tuesday in Waterbury Superior Court where a judge ordered her to stay away from her former charge.
Labrecque listed her employer in court documents as New England Home Care, a home nursing agency with offices in Waterbury, Cromwell, Windsor and New Haven. But according to Robert Nardello, a human resources administrator for the agency, Labrecque and the company have severed ties.
"The nurse in question no longer works for our agency," Nardello said.
Nardello said he couldn't comment on when or why the company ended its relationship with Labrecque. He said the company is cooperating with city police and other agencies involved in the case.
For a moment there I thought it said “agency investigating curse”. I thought they were on to me. Never mind...
Generally you have to pay extra for that.
or so I've heard
