I went to the NYC Tax Day Tea Party today. I kept a lookout for crashers, and the following pictures are my thoughts on possible crashers. I am not really sure about the top one (two pictures, front and back) and would like to know your thoughts on if you think they were crashers. You can see the rest of my pictures from the event at http://www.bermanpost.com/2010/04/tax-day-tea-party-nyc.html if you are curious.

Just got back from the NYC Tea Party. There were a number of ACORN and leftist infiltrators who screamed, cursed and gave the finger to the crowd. God bless the NYPD for their superb job keeping the liberal idiots at bay. There was definitely more tension this year than last year.

I saw signs that read “Abortion is a healthcare right”, “Blame the bankers not the poor”, and my favorite held by a child “It’s not my money to keep”.

Mike Church, Andrew Wilkow, David Webb, KT McFarland and Lou Dobbs made appearances.

Pictures to come.

‘Party Crashers’ Fail to Deter Missouri Tea Partiers

Some 200 people showed up in downtown St. Charles, Mo., Thursday afternoon for a Tax Day Tea Party which lefty “party crashers” tried unsuccessfully to disrupt.

About 200 people showed up Thursday afternoon at the Old Courthouse in downtown St. Charles, Mo., for the K and N Patriots-sponsored Tax Day Tea Party. Among those in attendance were two men who fancied themselves “party crashers.” Unfortunately for the Left, they failed in their efforts to disrupt the event.
WATCH VIDEO

Among the notables in attendance was Lt. Gov. Peter Kinder (R-Mo.), the man behind a planned lawsuit challenging the constitutionality of President Barack Obama’s government-run health care plan (a.k.a., “ObamaCare”). Though his speech was interrupted several times by the two men, the lieutenant governor handled their heckling well and earned thunderous applause from the assembled tea partiers.

After the speech, he spoke with me about the lawsuit, telling me that the group helping him with it, Health Care In Action, plans to make an announcement about it next week before filing the legal action two to three weeks later.

Before he departed, I asked Kinder about the heavily-outnumbered party crashers, and he simply expressed a desire that people be civil. Somewhat comically, he offered some advice for those on the left: “They ought to get their own crowd, not mooch off ours.”

“Arizona doctor says Obamacare will force him to close shop”
By Gautham Nagesh - The Daily Caller | Published: 04/14/10 at 3:13 AM | Updated: 04/15/10 at 1:10 PM

SNIPPET: ““If you voted for Obamacare, be aware these doors will close before it goes into effect.” The note is signed Joseph M. Scherzer M.D. and includes the following addendum: “****Unless Congress or the Courts repeal the BILL.”

Scherzer, who attended Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York, has been a practicing Dermatologist in Scottsdale, Ariz., since 1976. Reached yesterday at his office, Dr. Scherzer, 63, said he plans to stop practicing before 2014 when the bill’s full impact will be felt because he refuses to deal with the headache of increased government involvement in health care.

“I’m absolutely serious [about stopping practicing] and it’s not just because I’ll be nearing 65,” Scherzer said. “The stress is what would push me out the door. From what I’ve gathered hearing from my friends and peers, most physicians I’ve heard from feel the same way.”

Scherzer said the bill’s emphasis on punitive measures for physicians not following government-prescribed treatment methods under Medicare would increase his anxiety level to the point he would no longer be able to practice medicine. The maximum fine was previously $10,000; under the bill it will now be capped at $50,000. Scherzer said the fine system makes seeing a Medicare patients a difficult and stressful exercise.”

BLESSED TEA PARTY?

The “tea party” is not composed of impatient rabble or sly political operatives. it’s friends and neighbors who may just have a little help from the proverbial big man upstairs, says Richard Viguerie, chairman of ConservativeHQ.com.

“The tea parties are an unfettered new force of the middle class tapping into the anger and disappointment felt not only toward...

Rumor has it that, to avoid the Tea Party rallies in D.C., Obama fled to a suspected safe-house in Miami somewhere, run by Gloria and Emilio Estefan.
But taxpayers haven’t been able to avoid Obamanomics. In fact, this is your economy on Obamanomics:

— “A record number of U.S. homes were lost to foreclosure in the first three months of this year,” the AP admitted yesterday. RealtyTrac Inc. noted “that the number of U.S. homes taken over by banks jumped 35 percent in the first quarter from a year ago” and “households facing foreclosure grew 16 percent in the same period and 7 percent from the last three months of 2009.” Obama’s recovery is on track to ‘grow’ over 1,000,000 bank repossessions this year.

— The AP also reported yesterday that the “spreading economic recovery” has been spreading itself so thinly that industrial production barely reached 0.1 percent “growth” in March, “lagging expectations despite growth” in manufacturing, “underscoring” the “uneven” spread of the “spreading economic recovery” manufactured by newsrooms busily spreading myth. The expectors expected a number 7 times larger than what the Fed coughed up yesterday. Capacity utilization — 73.2 — is 7.4 percentage points below the average going back to the early Pleistocene Epoch.

— The alleged official ‘scorekeeper’ of the economy, the Business Cycle Dating Committee of the National Bureau of Economic Research (NBER), can’t seem to even locate a “spreading recovery.” The Committee posted on its web site Monday that “determination of the trough date (the date the recession hit bottom) on the basis of current data would be premature” and that “many indicators are quite preliminary at this time and will be revised in the coming months.” Administration officials insist the spreading recovery will eventually be found.

— First-time filings for jobless benefits jumped 24,000 in the latest week, but the jump seemed to stem largely from the fact that thousands of jobs were nefariously hidden by Easter Bunnies playing tricks, the same way gazillions of jobs were buried deep in the snow by Frosty the Snowman in February. The suddenly unreliable, “distorted data” showed claims rose to 484,000 last week, with the four-week moving average — equally unreliable because the news was bad — spiking up to 457,000. The expectors were shocked at the lousy numbers — even though signs were everywhere that the Easter Bunnies were up to their usual tricks. The expectors expected claims to ridiculously drop 30,000, to 430,000.

In a keen assessment, Reuters noted that soaring “jobless claims add to worries” about the fake recovery. Take out the massive census hiring underway, and these awesome job numbers would be even worse.

— In yet another Green Shoot, the Labor Department admitted yesterday that average hourly wages fell during the month of March by an inflation-adjusted 0.2 percent. Year-over-year, average hourly wages are down 0.6 percent (inflation-adjusted). But the stock market is up!

— ABC News’s Consumer Comfort Index has dropped back down “to -47 on its scale of +100 to -100,” which is “down 4 points from last week,” remaining “far below its 24-year average,” “casting doubt” on the spreading recovery. An awesome 8 percent “rate the economy positively.”

— AP: “Consumer borrowing fell again in February, reflecting weakness in credit cards and auto loans. It marks a setback to hopes that consumers are beginning to feel more confident and will start spending more” in this spreading recovery.

— CNN: “Office vacancy rates are now at their highest level in 16 years . . . as elevated unemployment levels across the country continue to temper demand for space . . . in fact, nearly three-quarters of the country’s major metropolitan areas experienced an increase in office vacancies in the first quarter of 2010.”

— Wall Street Journal: “Consumer bankruptcy filings hit their highest monthly peak in March since Congress overhauled the system in 2005. The number of filings rose to 149,268, 34% higher than February’s filings . . . the March tally was also 23% higher than the same time a year ago.” With a recovery going this strongly, who needs a recession?

Anyway, that’s...
My Two Cents...

Tax revolt fits NYers to a ‘Tea’
NY Post ^ | April 15, 2010 | Andrea Peyser

They’re not your father’s rednecks.

Take heart, New Yorkers. As you stand on line today mailing your tax returns to Uncle Sam, you might run into a crowd of fellow citizens at the post office — folks as angry and freaked out as you. They call themselves the Tea Party.

They’ve also been dubbed rednecks, racists, terrorists and fringe freaks of the KKK. Scary. Well, Tea Partiers are soon to be called something altogether different:

The majority.

“A year ago, we were ignored. Now we’re being maligned — so that’s progress,” said Lisa O’Neill, 53, coordinator for the Manhattan-based Tea Party 365. And a Democrat to boot. She’s helping organize a Tax Day protest at the James A. Farley post office at Eighth Avenue and 33rd Street.

Sarah Palin: Mr. President, is a strong America a problem?

Sarah Palin’s Notes
Mr. President, is a strong America a problem?

Asked this week about his faltering efforts to advance the Middle East peace process, President Obama did something remarkable. In front of some 47 foreign leaders and hundreds of reporters from all over the world, President Obama said that “whether we like it or not, we remain a dominant military superpower.”

Whether we like it or not? Most Americans do like it. America’s military may be one of the greatest forces for good the world has ever seen, liberating countless millions from tyranny, slavery, and oppression over the last 234 years. As a dominant superpower, the United States has won wars hot and cold; our military has advanced the cause of freedom in Iraq and Afghanistan and kept authoritarian powers like Russia and China in check.

It is in America’s and the world’s interests for our country to remain a dominant military superpower, but under our great country’s new leadership that dominance seems to be slipping away. President Obama has ended production of the F-22, the most advanced fighter jet this country has ever built. He’s gutted our missile defense program by eliminating shield resources in strategic places including Alaska. And he’s ended the program to build a new generation of nuclear weapons that would have ensured the reliability of our nuclear deterrent well into the future. All this is in the context of the country’s unsustainable debt that could further limit defense spending. As one defense expert recently explained:

The president is looking to eliminate the last vestiges of the Reagan-era buildup. Once the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan are “ended” (not “won”), the arms control treaties signed, and defense budgets held at historic lows while social entitlements and debt service rise to near-European levels, the era of American superpower will have passed.

The truth is this: by his actions we see a president who seems to be much more comfortable with an American military that isn’t quite so dominant and who feels the need to apologize for America when he travels overseas. Could it be a lack of faith in American exceptionalism? The fact is that America and our allies are safer when we are a dominant military superpower – whether President Obama likes it or not.

- Sarah Palin

SNIPPET: ““There aren’t a lot of African-American men at these events,” NBC News reporter Kelly O’Donnell, a white woman, told Darryl Postell, a black man at a Tea Party rally held Thursday in Washington, DC, pressing him, in an exchange she chose to include in her NBC Nightly News story, to address her prejudiced assumptions: “Have you ever felt uncomfortable?” Postell rejected her loaded premise that race must divide Americans: “No, no, these are my people, Americans.””

“First they ignore you, then they ridicule you, then they fight you, then you win.” — Mahatma Gandhi

I hadn’t planned on attending the Tax Day Tea Party event in Oceanside, California Thursday morning when I woke up, but I spent my evening there anyway. The event was well organized by a group called “Stop Taxing Us” who said that there were about 3,500 in attendance. After I saw what time the rally was to be held, the location, and the speakers they had lined up, I knew I couldn’t resist. So after work I jumped in the car and headed up the coast to check it out.

Below are photos (if I do it right...photo newbie here) taken at the Santa Rosa, Calif. Tea Party, held April 15 in the city’s Old Courthouse Square. One organizer estimated the crowd at 500 — a very good turnout given the liberal bent of Sonoma County.

Invited speakers included Catherine Bragg, who last year became something of a YouTube sensation when she blasted Rep. Lynn Woolsey (D - CA 6th District) at a town hall meeting in nearby Petaluma, Calif.

Given our experience at past pro-troop rallies, it was a surprise to encounter no disruptors whatsoever — just patriotic Americans who want their country back. For those not familiar with Northern California, Santa Rosa is appx. 55 miles north of San Francisco.

Theresa Dickerson stood among nearly 1,000 Tea Party protesters Thursday with a common complaint.

She was tired of another misconception in the media about the movement she had heard earlier in the day. Dickerson, of Middleville, said a commentator was chastising Tea Partiers for not wanting any taxes.

“We don’t want to abolish all taxes,” Dickerson said. “We want to cut out all the waste and all the favoritism that goes on.”

Thousands of Tea Party activists came out Thursday all across the nation. Dickerson said she thinks she is typical of the Tea Party movement...
