Is travesty! (to be delivered in rolling, Russian-accented baritone)

Flavored vodka is an abomination. Good vodka (and only good vodka) should be drunk ice cold so it has the consistency of syrup and the subtle flavors it naturally has can be tasted over the alcohol.

I nursed a bottle of real potato vodka (kosher to boot) that some Polish mathematical physicists gave me as a present when I invited them to a conference for years. A Russian colleague who had it at one of the departmental parties I served it at went wide-eyed and exclaimed “This is good!!”

Mixers, bah! Martinis should be made with gin, that tastes like gin!

Yeah, I keep mine in the freezer too. It’s like syrup when it’s been resting in the freezer.

Of course the only true martini is made with gin. I like both Tanqueray and Bombay.

I remember reading that Winston Churchill liked his (gin) martinis poured straight up with the bartender only looking at the vermouth on the shelf...
