You got it all wrong, once they kill all of the producers, they will just force the un-producers to become producers, mind you the efficiency will be dismal, but it won’t take much to keep the elite well fed and the rest who is left a few slices of bread a day.
Granted will become an importer of food as the land is mismanaged and ruined by the mismanagement. One state ran farm will only be able to feed the workers on it, two or three city peasants and one elite. They will make it work by force if need be and won’t care how many of the uneducated masses they crush to do so.
