Back when I owned Arabs, I had a gelding at the trainer for finishing breaking. He was riding along a country road, and three dogs ran out at the horse through some brush, spooked it, and the trainer was thrown. The horse stepped on his head. He survived, with only a very large cut.
The dogs were not pit bulls. Should they have been put down? Should their breed (hounds) have been destroyed? Should there be laws in place, prohibiting any loose dogs anywhere, including in the woods, where hunting dogs are trained?
If the pit bulls were attacking the horses, why did the girls dismount? Were they bitten? Were the horses?
As far as I can see, this story is a far reach to indict pit bulls. I’ll go back and follow your link, to see if there is more information. But dogs and horses don’t always do well together, unless they are raised together. My mastiff hates them, and cows, and deer.
oh no, your precious little angel puppy wupkins are never wrong. I am sure this girl somehow “provoked” the attack, yada yada... What a joke.
What angers Janice Walker is the lack of concern on the part of the owners of the pit bulls. “Why are they so heartless.

Sounds just like the PBA around here,,,
Hooray for me and to hell with you!!!...
Pit bulls and the owners who either train them to be bad or have no control over them are the ones who have indicted the pit bull.
Homeowners insurance should not cover damage inflicted by large dogs. Let these monster-loving people lose their homes and savings when their little priecious mutilates someone else’s children.
Oh, now that’s a logical answer. NOT!
I went to your link, no one was even bitten. The dogs barked at the horses, which becomes an “attack.” The “little girls” instead of riding off, DISMOUNT in the presence of attacking dogs? Please. One little girl gets her foot caught in the stirrup. That can happen anywhere, like even in the corral.
Horseback riding is a dangerous sport. Even for adults. Little girls riding unsupervised down a country road —? I would never allow it.
Well, on FR it’s Chet who has indicted the pit bull. Not the owners, the dogs. And they are not even allowed to bark at a couple of horses riding past their yard? Come on. Any dog will do that.
Barking does not constitute an attack. Unless you want to put down every dog that barks.
What did the dogs damage? They didn’t bite the horses or the little girls. They barked. That’s damage?
Dreadful. Prayers for the young lady.
Pit bulls are the mark of meth labs.
You can read, right? The article states that the pit bulls ran up to the horses, not that they were barking at the horses from a fenced in yard. And, for what it is worth, IMO, pit bulls have indicted themselves by their own behavior - the papers are replete with stories of pit bull attacks. I witnesses a pit bull attack myself. A pit, off leash, at a family park attacked a Black Lab that was on leash and under control of it’s owner (unlike the pit whose owner didn’t have control). The Lab did nothing to provoke the pit. Are you aware that the Pit Bull was banned in England? And, for good reason too.
Yes indeed. Let’s ignore the little girl in a coma.
How did she get in a coma? By dismounting, and getting her foot caught. Why, if there were attacking dogs, would she dismount?
It used to be German Shepherds. Or Dobermans. Or rottweillers.
Allison and her friend were riding on their horses on a rural Hardin County back road when three pit bulls ran out of a front yard and attacked the horses.

Now what does this say???,,,
What part of this don’t you understand???,,,
A grown woman would have just ridden the pits down under hoof,,,
Most states will put down ANY dog that attacks “stock”
> . < ...
Why are you asking such a cold hearted question? Do you have some information that the rest of the world doesn’t have regarding this incident? Do you have information regarding the incalculable numbers of other even more gruesome stories regarding the results of pit bull attacks? The dog is an extremely dangerous breed that should be banned from ownership.
Any dog breed can bit. No other dog breed does the damage that pits do. No other dog breed has the history of the pit either. Ever been bitten by a Chihuahua? Ever been mauled to death by one?
