Drowning in debt? 422 Church is here to help

A vast number of people are sinking in a whirlpool of consumer debt, a trend that has accelerated in each decade since the 1980s, but has reached a climax in the current recession. 61 percent of people said they either always or usually live paycheck to paycheck by the end of 2009, up from 49 percent in 2008, and 43 percent in 2007, according to a recent CNBC report.

"Many more people are living paycheck to paycheck compared to last year," says Richard Castellini, Chief Marketing Officer at CareerBuilder.com. "What you're seeing is that the problem is moving into higher income levels." Thirty percent of workers with salaries greater than $100,000 say they have joined the paycheck-to-paycheck ranks, up from 21 percent last year, according to the survey of 4,400 workers nationwide.

"Most people think making more money is the answer to all their financial problems. The best answer is using what we have more wisely," observes Pastor Ed Crenshaw of Victory Christian Fellowship, also known as 422CHURCH.COM. "We at Victory are compelled to offer solutions where we see great need," he remarked, referencing a couple of upcoming opportunities open to the community.

Crenshaw noted the Total Money Makeover simulcast with nationally known television and radio personality, Dave Ramsey, Saturday, March 13th, 1:00 to 6:00 PM, at 422CHURCH.COM, 2650 Audubon Road, Audubon, PA. "Total Money Makeover is a great overview for how to get out of debt and start building wealth for a financially secure future," stated Crenshaw.

Financial Peace University is a 13-week course that tackles a topic of major concern each week. At the end of the 13 weeks every participant has a financial plan in place. FPU starts Friday, March 19th, also at 422CHURCH.COM. Sign up for both programs at the website or call 610-676-0422.

"Often it's not a matter of making more money, but managing the money you have, that makes the difference. These programs will help everyone regardless of their cash flow or income," noted Crenshaw. "It is never too late to turn things around."

$100,000? That’s like the top 5 or 10% of the income distribution. I don’t know know what psychic gratification people get from owning more and more crap.

The “religion brings you money” thing is just creepy. You’re better off going to the local Community College and signing up for “Introduction to Finance.”

What gave you the idea this article was about that? What do you know about Dave Ramsey’s programs? He teaches good personal finances concepts.

Secondly, there are several verses in the Bible that say things “sow and you shall reap”, “give and it shall be given”, etc. I’m not sure what you are creeped out about, whether it is what some particular ministry has done with such verses, but the verses are there. There are certainly creepy things that some have done with these verses, but that is true about almost every verse in the Bible.

The same can be said for almost every verse in every religion - or non-religion for that matter. There are some pretty creepy things that are said in the name of conservatism on this discussion board in the name of “conservatism”. Are you going to become a liberal? No, they say even creepier things on Moveon.org.
