I do not ever identify myself by “race,” including on telephoned opinion surveys.
In a few instances I have identified myself as Native American, inasmuch as I was born in America, and tagged myself Founding President (and sole member) of the Nat’l Assoc of Native Americans of Norse Ancestry (NANANA).

The problem with calling yourself “Native American” is that datum may be used to funnel more of your hard earned money to another entitled “minority” group with special privileges. I agree we are Americans. But I will refuse to engage them on this issue at all.
