Roxy Music - AvalonAgreed. That is an amazing album.

In my humble opinion the biggest oversight is still Neil Sedaka. One of the first singer-songwriters with a ton of tunes that became classics. Very distinct style and ability. He should have been inducted back in the 80s!

“Bruce Sprinsteen. Theres someone that if they never played again, the quality of life in the US would dramatically improve.”
I couldn’t agree more. I can’t stand his pseudo working man crap.
To: ConservativeStatement
I can’t believe how many non-rock acts are in the HOF (even if you ignore the “early influences” category).

I think Roxy Music deserves a spot, but on the strength of their first 5 releases. Avalon-era Roxy was basically a Bryan Ferry solo vehicle, IMHO.
King Crimson definitely. Pere Ubu? Gang of Four?
None of these will ever make it, cuz people have to buy your records.

Definitely agree on the Pretty Things. They were just great.

I did buy a lot of stuff on CD in the late 1980s, but I remember that back then some of the stuff was never put out on CD. Modern English’s “After the Snow” and “Ricochet Days” were both incredible albums (forget “Melt with You”, that got played way too much) and I’ve never been able to find either of them.
The only stuff I buy from iTunes is stuff that is impossible to buy on CD.

It’s been documented that Wenner is determined to keep The Monkees out. Even aside from Michael Nesmith’s songwriting and role in the rise of country rock and music videos, The Monkees deserve acknowledgement as the phenomenon they were, regardless of whether or not one feels that their inorganic origin as a band means they deserve less respect than others. Even the article omits them from the top contenders list, which they deserve to be on.

1967 here too!
Man, some of this stuff, is sooo good. I own hundreds of CDs, about 1/4 of it from this list.
Much of this stuff is out of print. Finding the stuff, much of it very expensive. Not everything is available yet from download sites.
I’m looking for Seven Days in Sammystown by Wall of Voodoo, have seen stuff going for $250.00

I became a much better drummer when I discovered Rush. I even had my drums made by Slingerland as a copy of the set Peart used on Farewell to Kings. 2112 was also great because I had already read ANTHEM before I saw the album cover to All the Worlds a Stage and heard the intro to Bastille Day. That was power!

Roxy Music - AvalonHell, Avalon's not even in the Roxy Music top three, which would be Siren, Stranded, and the self-titled debut in that order. Avalon's good, but a little too slick and cool for its own good.

Chicago deserves to be in because of the music from their early years - 25 or 6 to 4, Lowdown, Make Me Smile, Dialog, a whole lot of others. But I think they won’t get in because of the music from their later years.
