Five performing acts will be inducted into the the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame tomorrow at a ceremony at New Yorks Waldorf Astoria hotel (Fuse TV, 8:30 p.m.). One rocked insanely hard: punk pioneers the Stooges. Two rocked more subtly, but left their mark: British Invasion band the Hollies and arty Genesis. Jimmy Cliff didnt rock at all: He sang reggae, but the Hall of Fame has never had a problem stretching its boundaries. Which explains its otherwise mind-boggling embrace of ABBA. No Alice Cooper, Rush, Dire Straits, Kiss, Def Leppard, Deep Purple, Flying Burrito Brothers, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Lesley Gore, Emerson, Lake & Palmer, Boston, The Cadillacs among others. So it is sad they get shafted because they are great.
Is Pink Floyd in the Rock hall of fame?
It is simply a popularity contest. All of the mentioned should be in but particularly Deep Purple who practically invented clasically based hard rock.
One day these nattering naybobs will be delt with!
Or the Angry Samoans!
