Source: Delhomme to make $7M in 2010
ESPN.com news services
CLEVELAND -- Jake Delhomme has a new NFL home, and the Cleveland Browns have another new quarterback.
Delhomme, released last week by the Carolina Panthers, has agreed to terms on a two-year deal with the Browns, whose quarterback position has been nothing short of a merry-go-round of players since the club returned as an expansion team 11 years ago.
ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter first reported the deal, and a source told Schefter that Delhomme is scheduled to make $7 million this season, including just under $900,000 in base salary. With $12.7 million from Carolina, Delhomme will make $19.7 million in 2010.

This move makes no sense at all - too early to give up on Quinn.

The first five Patriot games I saw live featured five different starting QB’s for the Pats.

I think the plan is to keep Quinn as a backup, and start building a stable of quarterbacks. In house competition is a good thing, and the Browns desperately need someone competent as Quarterback along with someone to back him up. This is another in a series of moves being directed by Mike Holmgren, the new Browns President, so let’s see how this all plays out.
I’m not thinking about this season as much as the season after, to get excited about the Browns again...

Seems Mike Holmgren can’t show Brady Quinn the front door fast enough. Maybe they’ll release him and get nothing for him like when they released DA.
Back to hoops. If only MissState made some free throws today, game would be over.

Agreed, but right now you have Quinn and Wallace so no depth at all at the QB position. The next step is to draft someone and give them time to learn with Delhomme as a mentor and you have Wallace as an experienced backup if he goes down. The next question is if to draft for a QB and which pick to use if you try for one this year.I myself would rather work on building the line and working on a solid RB playing some smash mouth football. What is sorely lacking is having a physical offense. The defense was good last year, the main problem was being on the field too long and tiring out due to a nonexistent offense. They re signed Cribbs so that shows some intelligence.
Lots of work for Holmgren to rebuild. I'm not sold on keeping Mangini either.
