He shouldn’t be put in the same category as FDR (his cousin), Johnson, Kennedys, or Klinton (!!).

What part of The U. S. Constitution said that the Federal Government had any authority to attempt to protect citizens from themselves? Teddy was the first one to attempt to remake society in his image and in that sense he was the first to begin slicing the Salami.

I think he would have been appalled at his cousin FDR in the 30s. I’ll tell you what, the bio is in the library and I’ll go thru it again to see where he did the things you accuse him of. Here’s another excerpt from the article:

Roosevelt enlarged the presidency because he made it a “bully pulpit” for national uplift and inspiration. He preached as much as he politicked. He felt responsible for the well-being and morals of the whole country. He set an example of how a large, strenuous life could be led, and he invited others to renew their energies and apply them to public causes. TR strongly endorsed motherhood and criticized women who had careers while neglecting motherhood [2].

In the contest beteen Conservation and environmentalism, Roosevelt supported the conservation and optimum use of natural resources, and opposed the environmentalists of the day, such as John Muir. (Conservapedia)
