I disagree with that general statement. Marvel is an exception because they are a liberal publication under the Disney wing. DC Comics, I now follow because Marvel has gone extremely left, offering the same ole storylines a 5 year old can come up with easily.
DC Comics, on the other hand, offers Vertigo..which also includes the upcoming film: KICK ASS. More mature. the actual Kick Ass? Those kids say the F and SH word in almost every scene of the comic, I kid you not. Truly extreme adult fare.
DC’s line of Green lantern, Flash, Batman are more interesting. Hal Jordan is a former Air Force pilot and the other Gl Stewart is a former Marine. Have not read anything anti-American in green lantern. The FLASH has been revived and involves the Flash returning to be..back with his wife. I recommend DC on most cases.
I’ll have to disagree there. Comic books are often used to preach liberal messages these days which is reason enough to stay away. For example, look at the evolution over time of Superman’s religion. http://www.adherents.com/lit/comics/Superman.html
Also, the treatment of women as far as the art goes can sometimes border on soft porn.
