It seems to me proms could be run privately, anyway. Why do taxpayers have to pay for dances/proms?
And the private proms could set their own standards for dress and behavior.

Yup, and then they were going to sue the scrool district and try to win millions for having their civil rights violated, ad infinitum, ad nauseum.

Why did she have to ask...she should have just showed up with her "date".
And, the school would have no legal basis to deny entry.

Perhaps the guys should take Butch behind the school and reach a consensus on what male social norms are.

They might have to go to Tupelo to find somewhere to have it. I know that area has grown since I have been through there on the way to my hometown but Tupelo would have more choices. Those 2 just wanted to cause trouble and they did just that.

That is Job One for school districts today -- avoiding lawsuits at all costs. They're not very good at that job either. They keep doing stupid stuff like expelling students found to have guns off campus.

The lesbian girl didn’t cancel the prom. The school did.
And why can’t she buy a ticket and wear a suit to her own prom? Are the tickets sold only in pairs?
From what I read, other students didn’t care so much if she went or not, and it is the students’ party, isn’t it?
Somebody in the admin forced a lose-lose solution.

What does that even mean?

I personally have a hard time imagining that 17 and 18 year olds in 2010 are going to be scandalized by a Lesbian couple at a dance. Even in Mississippi.
Most of the guys are going to be wondering if they are going to get some action later on and most of the girls will be worried about their hair and what that bitch Cassidy is wearing.

I did a search and it didn’t come up.

No worries.
As I said, it was posted in the middle of the night. It deserved a re-post.

In my day when a party was cancelled, we took it out to the back woods with a few bottles of cheap wine, a pack of cigarettes, and a bunch of Van Morrison tapes! LOL Sounds like my prom. LOL They didn't cancel, I just didn't go. A lot of posturing and clicks and whatnot. Had better things to do than put up with all that crap.
