A woman talking on a cell phone during a movie didn't take kindly to being "shushed" by another moviegoer. Or at least her boyfriend didn't.
In a drama that turned more lively than the one on screen -- "Shutter Island" -- the boyfriend allegedly attacked and stabbed the "shusher" in the neck with a meat thermometer. Sheriff's spokesman Steve Whitmore said the stabbing occured Saturday during a screening of the Martin Scorsese film.
The stabbing victim is expected to survive and is recovering at a hospital. Two others who tried to help the victim also were injured, according to Whitmore.
According to sheriff's officials, the suspects were described as black males. One man was wearing an orange hat with an orange jersey and the other man was dressed in a black hooded sweatshirt.
There was no word on why the man had a meat thermometer in a movie theater.

a.) Who takes a meat thermometer with them to the theater? I mean, really... who does that?
b.) Should make time of death really easy to compute, though.
Typical. You need to avoid theatres in borderline areas.
Seinfeld moment ping!
George-”Now shut your mouths or I’ll shut em’ for you. And if you think I’m kidding just try me. Cause I would LOVE IT!”
I always thought that George would have gotten beaten up for that.
Geez, another reason to stay out of theatres in low places.
Were there more than one boyfriend? There's no mention of other suspect in action.
So how hot was he, and what IS the right temp for medium rare?
Must have happened in East LA.
Call me a racist, I don't care, but I already figured as much just by reading the details of the crime.
Nothing but cell phones ringing, people talking on their phones, talking to each other, yelling at the screen, whoops, hollars and cat-calls, interspersed with, "Who dat man? Where he come from? What goin' on? Dis movie stoopid!"
Yep. Thank God for my home theater system.
No. in Lancaster. Lancaster was the city where the mayor said “this is a Christian city” and later capitulated to the libs. Whenever I head there, it’s mostly middle-class blacks that I see in the malls.
Want to watch a movie in peace? Pick a subtitled foreign film. Nothing weeds out gangbangers, rednecks, and other unsavory types better than a subtitled film. “Mang, if I wanted to read, I’d’a gone to the lieberry!”
In LA wearing orange? Hello Hoover
I must be racist too, then. My first thought when I read the details was that they were Black.
Excellent technique! I’ll keep that idea up my sleeve, too.
I don’t believe that black people are biologically inferior to any other kind of people. My Catholic faith does not allow racism.
That being said, anyone who denies that cultural differences exist between the majority of urban blacks and the majority of middle-class whites is being naïve, disingenuous, or dishonest. By and large, middle-class white people behave circumspectly in public, and do not shout at theater screens, hold conversations during movies, and the like. (Lower- and working-class white people often display the same behavioral pathologies as urban blacks.)
Obviously, there are exceptions to these cultural behavior patterns, and every individual deserves to be judged on the basis of his or her own actions. However, when dealing with groups of people, it is both ethical and prudent to assume that typical cultural behavior patterns will be encountered.
Geeze, what was the last movie I saw in a theatre? I don’t remember.
You are correct, sir. I only go to the movies maybe once a year.
