As I see it, Romney is the odds on favorite for the GOP nomination. The Republican party has a long history of nominating the runner up or “next in line”. It has no history of nominating a failed VP candidate, and I seriously doubt it will begin now.

So this leaves me wondering which FReepers are going to campaign for 0bama against Romney when that happens. Will FR become a pro-0bama site at that point? Will the FR 0bama reelection effort be directed from the very top?

The reality is that the anti-Romney crusade on FR is very likely courting inevitable disaster for the right and our nation’s chances to rid ourselves of our tinpot dictator.

I hope the party doesn't throw away this historical chance to turn this country by choosing the "next in line". They may not get another chance.

This ain't your ordinary cycle of history.

The US has no history of electing Kenyan-Communist-Muslim non-citizens to the presidency.

And coupled with the Nancy Pelosi congress and Harry Reid senate, the danger to the existence of the USA as a nation has never been greater (someone will probably argue that the Civil War was such a time, but we haven't seen the end of this one yet).

Romney might spend a lot of money, but it won't buy him the presidency. Exchanging one fraud for another fraud is not a solution.

Sorry, its the Mitt rah rahs that courting disaster by following a RINO when there are better choices. If Mitt is the choice, you have yourself to blame for another 4 years of Obama- not conservatives.

You were saying ...

As I see it, Romney is the odds on favorite for the GOP nomination.

From what I've seen happen here... I would say that you're the "odds on favorite" for a zot, if you keep promoting Romney for the GOP candidate... LOL ...

You're assuming that Obama will get his party's nomination, which I think is VERY much up in the air. REGARDLESS, here's the deal: The reason Obama got into the White House in the first place is because over the decades, the Republican party through its cowardice has caved and "reached across the aisle" in nicey-nicey "bipartisan" spirit so often to Democrat liberalism, it has created a traps where the Liberals ALWAYS set the terms and Republicans simply negotiate on the Liberals' terms. The "right" gradually moved so far to the left that a screaming Socialist like Obama appeared "moderate" and "center" enough to get voted into the White House.

If Romney, God forbid, or any other big government Republican, is elected president, you had BETTER START TO IMAGINE the Democrat president who will inevitably follow. That Democrat will be so socialist-communist that he'll make Obama look like John Birch. IT WILL BE AN INEVITABLE CONSEQUENCE as long as we voters continue casting our votes such that big government Republicans don't lose.

The only way to push the Republican party to the right, and hence the only way to push this nation to the right, is to vote such that big government liberal Republicans LOSE.

PERIOD.

Sorry but you don't get it...an Obama/Romney leaves me no choice morally but to stay home....Holding my nose to go vote for Bush I, Dole and McCain will not happen for Romney especially as pissed as the base is already with rinos.

When you have as your campaign to your base...if you don't go vote the dem will win... like for Bush I(second election when we found out his wife was pro-choice), Dole and McCain you have already lost.

Sorry there is no pretending with Romney. While he might campaign conservative he is liberal with a huge record that kills him, been pro-choice and now he wants to be president has decided to say he is pro-life (real believable) from the Northeast, high taxing, anti-gun, pro-gay guy who implemented a liberal health care system....yep base stays home and that does not even think about his last nail in his coffin.

Will FR become a pro-0bama site at that point?

No, sadly they will just sit back and watch that train wreck. That is why people with brains are searching for a winner and just want the freaking loser rinos to get out of the way.
