Who Is Brooks Perlin?
The son of wealthy hedge-fund financier Sandford Perlin and his wife, Anne, Perlin grew up in posh Darien, Conn., and graduated from Hotchkiss, an elite boarding school. At Williams College he played on the tennis team and was known for "laserlike volleys," says one schoolmate, "and lots of shirtlessness. He seemed to enjoy displaying the bod." These days, he competes in triathlons, keeping to a grueling training schedule while starting up a business to market green construction materialswhich gives him something else in common with Couric. Says her friend: "They're both really busy!"

Ever notice the trust fund babies in the world always have a scheme of some sort to talk about at partie, to deflect the fact most of them are complete douche-bags.

Ahhh yes: I have walked the mean streets of Darien, Connecticut. It is a frightful place, full of dark corners and hidden alleys... especially around the maid and butler residences, which are often not lit nearly as well as either the main mansion or the guest house, and certainly not as well as the tennis courts or gardens. I should have to ask my man Pedro to replace the extinguished bulbs in each of the wrought-iron lanterns Great-Grandfather imported from London on the Mauritania these many years ago; perhaps once he’s done waxing the Bentley...
