I laughed when I read your post.
We know, first of all, that the MAYANS ACTUALLY EXISTED!
They left cities, archeological objects, a written language, art, architecture, mathematical systems, and astronomical systems. We can see them today. We can touch them and study them.
Show me ANY archeological evidence in the Americas for any of the great cities the Book of Mormon claims existed here. There is not so much as a single metal object from the claimed foundries, or any of the cities, or any other objects a large civilization always leaves.
In short, there is not evidence for the work of fiction referred to as the Book of Mormon.

There are 951 people in the United States with the name Alma Hernandez. Will you claim that also supports the BOM claims, since the surname may mean they come from the Americas...?????
You strain at gnats to try to link anything historical to mormonism. Show us the overwhelming historical evidence right here of the claims in the BOM. There ISN’T any.
You made some lucid points, especially the absurdity of these “ancient civilizations” not leaving a shred of archeological evidence compared to the Mayans. It is obvious that Mormon followers have to work hard to shut out what they know –internally- to be truth. It is human nature to remain in denial when one has so much invested in a scam. Pride and even nostalgia are tough to break. The Mormon church has its captives in great bondage.
Mormonism is not just a work of “fiction”, it is a work of EVIL- because it denies the captives of this cult the opportunity to have a relationship with the true God and indoctrinates its victims with the specious lie of the evil one – the lie that you can become a god. I pray that the one True God will be revealed to those ensnared by the lies of the scoundrel Joseph Smith.
Oh, I guess you know what happened to the Mayans - why and how their civilization vanished from the face of the earth. Was it disease, was it war? The Book of Mormon has an explanation.
I was reading the Book of Mormon last night and marveling at the fact that Joseph Smith could not have made it all up; that would be impossible, though he was obviously a very intelligent man. No one could have dreamed up the Book of Mormon. If they had, and if they had an agenda, they would have come up with stories that made God’s people look better. But instead, it tells the truth about God’s people’s foibles and missteps . . . you know, like the Bible.
I love the Book of Mormon. I used to be afraid to read it and believe it because of the way I was raised (Southern Baptist) and all the anti Mormon preaching and teaching I was subjected to. I am glad I opened my mind and my heart to the Savior and to the teachings of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. I am so happy.
