I have read that the permit stipulates that you cannot use firearms.

Such a shame, and utter stupity too. Firearms may increase interest in this new sport.

At the last gun show I bought "snake loads" for my .40. They look funky and I'm dying to try them out! I have a sick feeling they will not cycle my weapon, though (Walther P99). We'll see.

'you cannot use firearms'

I guess that is so you won't kill off any two-legged snakes....LOL!

Florida is as flat as a pancake. They're probably worried that some yahoo is going to take a potshot without a proper backdrop, and put the bullet into a trailer 2 miles away.

“...”snake loads”...”

When I lived on a lake in TN we had a lot of snakes around, including cotton-mouths and copperheads. My neighbor had a 22 revolver with snake loads - his were 22 cartridges with buckshot instead of a slug. Worked well.

the first time they did this you could not use firearms. This time hunters may use rifles, pistols or shotguns, but no centerfire rifles.
