“Have you tried pushing Fn-F5 to see if the monitor config got mixed up and the laptop is no longer sharing its signal back to itself? I hope that makes sense. Toggle through the monitor configurations and see if the laptop is sharing its signal with the other monitor. Does restarting the computer do anything and did you adjust the power settings to put the monitor to sleep for a longer period?”
Oh the Fn-F5 key is related to the monitor config??
Well now that the monitor is working i hesitate to touch anything.....but I’ll have this post to go back to later if needed.
No restarting the computer did nothing to solve the monitor issue. And I didn’t adjust the power settings.
I think the issue is solved except for getting the laptop screen to work again - when need it to work. I don’t now so am going to leave well enough alone....whew!
One of the function keys is related to which monitor gets the signal. The function key should have the picture containing monitors in it. On my laptop, it is F3. If you repeatedly press it, it cycles the signal going only to the laptop screen, the external monitor, both or puts it in sleep mode (neither screen). So keep pressing it until you get the desired situation.
