Sean Penn has opened fire on critics of his recent mercy mission to Haiti, stating he hopes they all die of rectal cancer.
The controversial "Mystic River" star has been so caught up in the relief effort in earthquake-ravaged Haiti in recent weeks, he hasn't paid attention to what politicians and newsmakers have been saying about him.
But, now he's home, the 49-year-old can't believe his actions have upset so many people - and he's disturbed that his critics can't just see the good in what he's trying to do in Haiti, where he helped establish a private relief organization.
In a taped TV interview, which will air this weekend on CBS News Sunday Morning, Penn rages, "Do I hope that those people die screaming of rectal cancer? Yeah. You know, but I'm not going to spend a lot of energy on it."
He isn't letting the criticism affect his plans to return to Haiti - and he's taking his teenage kids with him: "They're gonna help... The first person served by service is the server. You know, there's nobody in the world that isn't looking for a kind of purpose in life, and tangible purpose is the most immediately recognizable."
And Penn insists his celebrity input is helping the people of Haiti: "We were able to get X-ray machines, and ventilators, and do all kinds of things."

So what’s so unusually good or bad about what he did? I can’t grok why someone would be scratching at him.
A man of grace and compassion - no wonder he loves himself so.....
If a conservative said something like this, he would essentially be blacklisted from any and all jobs in the media for life.
On the other hand I, together with all my friends and family, wish nothing but the best for Penn. I hope his eyes are opened to The Truth and that he experiences Metanoia, both in his politics and his spiritual life. Following this, I wish him the greatest prosperity, both in this world and the next.
(Should he not experience this epiphany, I would hope that the Father God of the Old Testament visit upon him such retribution as his comments deserve, using, perhaps the Pharaoh Ramses II as His inspiration.)
- ! - Nuttin’ but LUV for ya, Sean baby - ! -
Wonder what you'd be doing with your life if you couldn't con Hollywood producers (and the movie ticket buying sheep) to "purchase" your services.
I work rotating shifts...i don’t have time to fly off to Haiti and feel good about myself... eat sh** Sean.
Hey, Sean. Is that your nose or a hemorrhoid?
Poor sap has never done anything of meaning in his life and he is desperately trying to find a reason to justify his existence. Shame that he cannot know the simple joy of doing a REAL job that makes him tired and sore at night. There is meaning in simple living. Poor bastard.
You said it all....wish i had read your post first...it would have saved me the time of responding to this thread...not much to say after that.
Mr. Spicoli...did you get enough pizza for the whole class?
I find his choice of curse “odd” and strangely revealing.
"Choose the form of The Destroyer."
The voodoo choir has song. Sean Penn, the voodoo king.
Two questions:
1.Did someone criticize his relief work?
2.Does anyone have a picture of him in the leaky boat in New Orleans?
At least Penn won’t die of rectal cancer. He’s a perfect a*****e.
That’s what too much “white lady” will do to you!
"We cower as you point your fingers telling us to support our troops. You and the smarmy pundits in your pocket those who bathe in the moisture of your soiled and blood-soaked underwear can take that noise and shove it."
The dude's got serious mental problems.
