Playing Chess with the House Democrat Pawns

I’m not saying that Obama is a genius, but did he totally outsmart the House Dems? In other words, did he imagine this very scenario happening and did he use his Pawns effectively?

Back in the summer, The King got Queen Nancy Pelosi to push an unpopular socialized healthcare bill through the house – it barely passed, but it did pass. The result, Dems lose popularity big time…….and the tides have certainly turned.

But, did the King plan all along on sacrificing these Pawns to save his Rook – Socialized Medicine, aka the cornerstone of his legacy?

The King can now more easily convince the Pawns to fall on their swords: “You are going to lose your seat anyway, so you might as well go down in history voting for this – you’ll have a legacy. You must do this for the King”

The most predictable analysis would be to say that Obama overexposed his pawns too early in the game. But could it be that sacrificing pawns was all part of the original plan? I'm sure that Obama didn't envision losing the 60th vote in the Senate. So now the King is in "check" and must sacrifice his pawns and use reconciliation.

Obama’s not that smart. He thought he had a slam dunk in August, and because of that miscalculation, is losing both the Congress and any other big ticket plan he might have had before this all blew up in his face.

no- he is too stupid to plan this - anyone who believes in communism is not as smart as they think they are.

I think it is just working out this way

Although telling people “you’re going to lose anyway- so vote for this thing that caused you to lose your seat” is not a compelling argument

But what if he does get ObamaCare passed? He doesn’t need to pass another peice of legislation and he’ll go down in history just like FDR and Lyndon Johnson.

It’s all about the legacy. Bill Clinton doesn’t really have one other than NAFTA. Neither Jr. or Sr. Bush have much to show.

I tend to think Obama thought he had the political capital in July to “Rahm” it through. According to his first healthcare speeches, we’ve now long since passed the point where the earth would have stopped spinning and we would all be hurtled out into space.

“Obama’s not that smart.”

He is the King, but is he the Puppet Master? Perhaps the PuppetMaster is actually playing the game of chess. Obama is just one peice on the board.

If he does get it passed (a big if, in the House), we have it will be time for the Supreme Court to do its job. It will be 5-4, but we have the votes.

If the Court doesn't act, then we need to run a campaign in 2012 that is entirely premised on electing enough Republicans in Congress, and a President to roll it back. I'm not sure will be able to, given the GOP's horrible track record at undoing Democrat socialism.

Bottom line, the only safe thing is to defeat it, and pull out all the stops to do it. Remember McCain-Feingold? We had nothing to worry about because surely the court would strike it down? So Bush the lunkhead signed it. Eventually they did strike it down, but initially, they actually upheld restrictions on free speech. We can't count on anything from anyone. We can't count on free elections in 2010 and 2012. We can't count on Republicans to repeal if the do get control. We can't count on the Court.

Just defeat it now.
