So you didn’t get enough donations, so you’re switching to a subscription based model? Good luck with that...

Obviously your web site was a failure and not worthy of support. In the free market those business models that are useful and fill a need succeed, those that are useless or don’t fill a need fail. Yours failed. The only person to blame is yourself for having an inferior product.

Well, that just ruined my day.

I just skimmed the site and looked at its usage statistics. Looks like he’s getting about 10x the activity that my site gets; FWIW my site has been stagnant for years, costs me just $160/year (I keep it just for the email domain now), and AFAIK is nothing to speak of. I don’t see what he’s spending so much on; if he’s spending more than $100/yr for that (he did allude to “hiring a consultant”), he’s being ripped off.

Even tho I never heard of it, I feel bad. I will now go to the back yard and beat myself with a moldy twinkie.

I have know of Obama File right along.
I think many on FR who haven’t heard of it
have bought into the PaulBot mantra, better Obama won than McCain and don’t care to know what Obama is up to and
his background.
Well, how is that Hope & Change working out

It's a sad day when the excellent Obama data base, The Obama File, which the United States Library of Congress selected for inclusion in its historic collection of Internet materials, folds because we were too miserly and uncaring to donate a few dollars a month to our fellow FReeper, Beckwith, to help with maintainance expenses for his website. Now the public will be deprived of the best Obama data base on the net. I'll become a subscriber as soon as Beckwith starts up again.

Well, there is a fine list of people who never check links to see where information comes from. It is a shame Beckwith has not received more support in his tremendous work to chronicle the Obama Administration from birth on.
Mea Culpa; this is what happens when we figure that someone else (in better financial straits) will get the job done.
A couple bucks here and there might have helped a lot, if enough people had chipped in.

Maybe "Lady Liberty," your plucky little Russian immigrant friend, can be enlisted to fight for Obama File. Every blog that's flogged here on FR is entitled to money from FReepers, right? We're just a big blob of blog money just waiting to be tapped.
Just think, you can recycle your infernal Orly spam with minimal editing. That was highly effective, lol.

It costs me about a hundred buck a year for my site! I am sure there are cheaper ones.
