i agree with you. the expression reminds me of how my friends looked at me (when they were several feet away and could not yet hug me) when they came to visit after my mom was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. it’s that “oh i am sooo sorry for this mess and can i help, you need a hug” look. it’s a chic thing.
