This is going to be a great match. USA! USA! USA!
Those commercials got to me too...I think its a genius campaign, cause they can use it for any sport. The Olympic one, with the mom mouthing “that’s my baby” got me misty every time!
Dittos re: the attitude of hockey players, almost always gracious and forthcoming.
In other sports news, the Bills announce that Terrell Owens will not have his option renewed....
Mostly because Team Canada actually played their best goaltender today: Roberto Luongo, G Vancouver Canucks. Martin Brodeur has the “pedigree” of past success but Luongo was the “hot goalie” during the Games.
Ryan Miller will get a hero’s welcome when he comes back to Buffalo.....the Sabre fans are passionate..I would love for someone to post the first game back there...Americans know a hero when they see one, and he is a hero...
and we did win more medals and some in sports that we haven't won in decades.......like bobsledding....
our guys and gals did terrific....so proud of them...
curling is not the hardest sport in the world...it takes practice....and that is one gold that we can definately aim for....
and I suspect we'll get stronger on the skating races too...
the standard is how MANY medals are won, and we won the most....lets not change the game now and say the number of gold medals are more important, and while that is great, the sheer number of medals we won says a lot about our total team..
what is lost in all of this is how well Germany did.....they were fantastic....
so the number of gold medals available was more as well......we could go round and round....
I loved the curling....just loved it....wish we had a local rink.
Back to the regular season, and the chase for Lord Stanley’s hardware!
one last thought
Crowds fill Toronto streets after hockey gold medal win
Web Staff, cp24.com
Crowds poured out into the streets of Toronto and across the country tonight with a gold medal victory in men’s hockey at the Vancouver Games.
Fans erupted into the streets moments after Sidney Crosby buried the game winner to defeat the U.S. 3-2 in overtime.
Several sections of Yonge street were closed, including near Dundas Square and Eglinton Avenue, as fans cheered and celebrated the win.
Game on!
Agreed. That part just undid me.
My beloved Vancouver Canucks had three medal winners. Luongo(gold), Kesler(silver), Salo(bronze).
Anyway great game..almost died when the US tied it up the 3rd but alls well that ends well....woohoo!
LOL, I think everyone did!
Our high school hockey team won it’s first Championship ever! I’ve been waiting 14 years for this!
WOO HOO!
Lots of guys have problems keeping Cosby out of the net. I'll bet you Miller gets a standing O when he comes on the ice in Pittsburgh on Tuesday. (Not after the game starts, mind you --- but every Hockey fan in America had to appreciate his play in the Olympics.)
What an awesome game and tournament for Team USA. We had some good chances in OT to win the gold, but Crosby and Iginla combined on a great ‘meat-and-potatotes’ type goal. Cycle on the half wall head to the net, hard, quick shot, and then “O’ Canada!”.
Would have loved to see the USA get the gold, but a silver on foreign soil is something we haven’t done since 72 (any hockey medal on foreign soil).
Overall a great Olympics. Loved seeing the Nordic Combined medals and the bobsledders making history.
In the end the talent won out over grit.
Contrats to Canada!
Loved the game....and God Bless America.
Is that true? I thought the guy that got killed practicing the luge was from Russia or someplace? That was a practice run before the opening, I think...?
Congratulations! It IS a big deal!
