Your incomplete rant and newbie status aside, I find that the inter-denominational backbiting that goes on here quite often is counter-productive to conservative goals. Protestant vs. Catholic vs. Mormon vs. whatever only serves to divide us at a time when we all need to be as united as possible.
You are a rare sane man on this forum in these times. FR religious folks are about as nuts as you can get lately. I’ve been at my wits end regarding some of these yahoos AND THEIR disgusting moderators. It makes me sick. These people are a disgrace. But the politics end is still good.
Honest fr, as inarticulate that I might have been, that was my point.
I agree, united we stand, divided we fall. I dont mind post on religious news. However people ought to check their biases at the door.
Well stated. Thank you.
You got that right.
There seems to be just a small group of psychotic pinheads that keeps picking at that those scabs. It's a sick obsession with them. Thankfully, most FReepers don't waste much time on it. We have REAL enemies to face.
Wait a minute. You mean Mormon "scripture" can label all Christians as "apostates," heart-drifters, "corrupt," not worth joining, and creedally abominable (100% of creeds) -- and that gets a "free pass" from you...180 years of such printed nonsense...and yet a few online threads takes issue with that...and gets a scolding from you?
Can you say lopsided? Off-balance? And 100% lack of discernment?
Why would you assume such "unity" when Mormons are pasting that stuff in "scripture" & then translated it in over 100 languages + publishing the same thing in curricula, magazine articles, online content, missionary lesson plans & talking pts, etc??? And where are your missives to the Mormon church to just plain knock if off if you want to assume such "unity?"
This comment assumes unity where there hasn't been for 180 years. I could probably guess that the folks who the apostle Paul warned the church @ Ephesus about had the bulk in common with the sheep there. Both groups were "religious." So, did Paul play the "allies"-game-don't-divide-us-you're playing? (No)
As Paul was leaving the church of Ephesus, he warned them with this high-priority alert:
"I know that after I leave, savage wolves will come in among you and will not spare the flock. Even from your own number men will arise and distort the truth in order to draw away disciples after them. So be on your guard! Remember that for three years I never stopped warning each of you night and day with tears." (Acts 20:29-31)
Paul's cultural priority? (Defend against the false disciples who will proselytize the flock and draw away men unto themselves!)
We have REAL enemies to face. [Behzinlea]
Matthew 10:28 - Do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather, be afraid of the One who can destroy both soul and body in hell. Some freepers can multi-task. [Reaganaut]
Exactly.
Don't we take our cultural cue from a certain "Lord" named Jesus Christ? Who are we to follow when it comes to setting cultural priorities? Jesus and the apostle Paul? or single-tasker Bezinlea?
So does Jesus say, "fear the real political & socialistic & terror-bound enemies?" (Nope)
