We have our first grandchild on the way and I have already instructed my daughter that her cats are not allowed in the baby’s room, even when the baby isn’t in there. To have a PIT BULL, or ANY dog for that matter and not close the door on the room where the baby lies unattended is negligent and STUPID.

Truthfully, no animal should be allowed access to a newborn baby without close supervision.

I agree. We didn’t have dogs when our kids were babies and got our first Sheltie when youngest was 4 or 5 yrs old. You just never know, the dog (any breed) might be jealous or something of the new kid in town. Better safe than sorry and like my Momma always told me an ounce of prevention . . .
