ICE DANCING PAIR WINS GOLD SPOILER ALERT WARNING-West Coast
http://nbcsports.msnbc.com/id/35532270/ns/sports-olympic_sports/
Okay...NOW I have to stay up and watch it.....
Giving gold to Russian girl, tovarisch!
Tonite’s award ceremony was the most moving, most emotional yet. I was so happy for the couple, and for Canada. If I knew the words, I’d have sung along, too.
It was pretty clear the second the Canadians stepped onto the ice they would win ... she was gorgeous in that white costume, and everything they did as a dancing team seemed flawless, Best night of the Olympics so far.
Joannie Rochette is the Canadian skater whose mother died. She was shown practicing tonight. She’s in the ladies competition—no partner.
Gosh, what beautiful skating tonight. I had no problem with the Canadians winning, but couldn’t see the Russians getting the bronze. Not that I’m a skating judge or anything. I loved the way Tessa Virtue sang O Canada to the top of her lungs.
That is a really bad pic of her.
“Good news! An American Snow Team star takes a medal in sliding on ice! Canada clubbed an opposing team with sticks, beating them. And a Norwegian man flew further through cold air than anyone else, while still remaining upright. Coming up next: the downhill flipping and twirling event!”
In all seriousness, I couldn’t do any of that stuff without hurting myself. Congratulations to this evening’s medalists!
Kind of looks like Johnny Weir to me.
HUH? You understand wrong!
“They clean up in all the obscure events nobody even pays attention too.”
Well, at least in the U.S.
I always think of them when it comes to bobsled, luge - stuff like that.
I thought it interesting that the Americans and Canadians have the same coaches, train together, are best of friends. I liked the big handshake and hug the two guys gave each other. They first came across each other on seperate hockey teamsn that got in a fight. (Although the American says his coach made him stay on the bench). They were eight.
A gay man pretending to like a woman for a medal? It would make a nice movie.
Yeah, that's "sports" for ya.
Good to read - didn’t see this but I would have been with you - as long as the Russians didn’t win - all good!
He has also dated Tanith Belbin.
I still do not understand how this “sport” is judged. It seems if you get a reputation as being the team you really have to mess up not to get high scores. But lots of medals in the “Not Guilty” department, hee hee.
I gather he is so arrogant or snotty I think he would be ignored and thus perish because of it.
I watched all the skating last night and I was disappointed that the American silver medalist couple did not at pick up the bronze. I thought the Russian pair was awful, and using her costume to do the lifts etc, and the commentators making the remark about rules changes, would seem to give them lower marks rather than higher to have them win. I think our American sliver medal winners last night did a wonderful skate too and it would have been hard to grade the two but I think in the end the Canadian pair, advantage on home turf or not, were lovely on the ice and I am happy for the win. They were just gorgeous..looked most like ballet on ice.
Not to out run those Germans who are closing in on us...
They won the Bronze and were about as gracious as Pleshekno..you could see on the faces they were not pleased. I wish they had not won at all.
No, the lovely skater in the Ice Dancing Gold winner didn’t lose her mother. It will be a single figure skater tonight, Joannie ? from Canada whose mother died at 55 after just arriving in Vancouver
The Gold and Silver ice dancers were fabulous. They have started a revolution with their style. Belbin and Agosto were silver winners at the last olympics where the Russians won. And it was obvious that the Russains and Belbin and Agosto-who are very lovely young people who felt that the Canadians deserved the Gold-do have the same Russian coach in Pennsylvania. This will probably be their last Olympics. The Canadian Gold pair and our silver ice dancing pair are friends and have the same coach in Michigan. I think the 2 different styles are obvious and it may be the end of the Russian dominance.
