One, did it recognize the network card (presumably an onboard one) and install/configure the proper drivers?

It shows the etho connection but not sure of anything at this point, I am new to linux and still trying to find my way around,surfed the mint forums but didn't find any answers. I only have one monitor and cable for the two so I may be back and forth.

The word “RUNNING” is very important in the ‘ifconfig’ output:

UP BROADCAST RUNNING MULTICAST MTU:1500 Metric:1

Getting an eth0 entry indicates that the software is seeing the interface. However, if “RUNNING” is not shown, then it is not configured correctly.

If the interface is “RUNNING”, then try: ‘ping 74.125.19.105’

This is a valid internet IP address (to google.com). If this works, then your gateway is set up correctly. And the problem is truly DNS.
