3 pit-bull attacks cause death, mayhem
By KITTY CAPARELLA & STEPHANIE FARR Philadelphia Daily News caparek@phillynews.com 215-854-5880
THE BLOODY paw prints were still in the snow, and a bunch of white gauze lay nearby. The pinkish snow was packed down where two pit bulls had attacked a 10-year-old boy - severely injuring his right arm and puncturing his neck, left arm and back with their teeth shortly after 11 a.m. yesterday.
The child had been walking with two boys who had both dogs on leashes. The dogs - one brown and the other white with brown spots - began fighting each other, then turned on the 10-year-old, said Capt. Ben Naish, police spokesman.
It was the third vicious pit-bull attack in Philadelphia in three days.
On Friday, a victim's wrist was nearly severed. On Saturday, a woman was mauled to death. And last night, doctors were trying to save a little boy's arm. All three attacks involved dogs known to the victims.

TANKS,Chet,,,
Blame the puppy-mills for more of these damned things on the street,,,
Gunna be a bloody year...
With so many accidental discharges, you’d think they’d all be recalled and recycled (e.g., made into fertilizer). ;-)
Ya’ beat me to the draw!,,,;0)
I really doubt the people in that place would want a
breed-ban,,,
Too many thugs...
The ones that the local AC gets all go to the rendering
plant,,,
I guess they’re good for something...
Can we ship all Pit Bulls to South Korea...PB Stew.
People do not take the time to see if a certain breed will fit their lifestyle. If they did & if they bought less on the spur of the moment we would have less unwanted dogs. I don't care for pits myself. I've bred Akita too & I don't trust them that much. If people would realize working dogs are happy working & not sitting around in a small apartment or house & be able to do their job we would have more happy dogs. But no, people need the dog of the moment & don't care it doesn't fit into their lifestyle and they are too selfish to get up & do some work with the dog.
I blame people more then I do dogs for what the people do to these dogs. They don't check to see if it is inbred. They buy the cheapest dog & then they don't take care of it. They don't educate themselves on the breed & worse they let it around their children knowing it could be a time bomb. I never let children alone with any of my dogs & I have tiny Shih tzu now. Children can be mean to animals & in return the animals has enough & bites. Not every pit is bad. We are seeing more stories because the owners were stupid & lazy.
Colorful obfuscation aside, good pit bulls are the ones that have each received at least an ounce of the lead beauty enhancement treatment.
That’s a nice weapon! I see that you have one of those old man sights on it. ;-)
But maybe that beats spending so much on cases of loads just pointed and launched at targets, eh? Mr. Slim Wallet here says, “ouch!”
Do you hate all dogs?

The biggest problem we have at the animal shelter is with pit bulls. Owners don’t spay and neuter their animals and don’t keep them restrained on their property. Many of our unwanted dogs have pit bull in them. In addition, they are often owned by meth or pot dealers to protect their property.
Good post and from someone who worked in the dog catcher world, or Animal control as it is called now a days.
As a dog person it really breaks my heart to see dogs on chains.
I would bite you too if you had me tethered to a short chain all day.
As a single for life person dogs have always been my constant companions.
On the rare occassion I have to be out of town I hire a dog sitter (same dog sitter for years now) to keep them company.
Use to take the dogs with but as I am aging (now have a lap dog along with the Labs) my agility does not allow for Labs on the road.
Also we bought a diesal bus last year to get the quad son around in and all three dogs are fearful of the loud idle.
They dont want to go with Mama in the noisey rig. Nope no way.
They have an acre to keep them happy, funny thing is when we are home they are always under foot unless a deer/bunny wanders by.
Chet some imposters have been posting threads about pitbulls.
I told them to knock it off. /sarc
I like tervuren-burnese-malamutes and don’t have them neutered (mountain lions, bears, other predators, high, packed snow drifts outside right now and other work for the dogs to do), but they stay on the place (goat fence, extra high). If a dog gets off of a place around here, the ranchers will shoot it (like they do coyotes and wolv...er, those strange lookin’, wild German shepherds).
