As to hand arrangement, you’re probably too old now to change efficiently. But if you go to old video of Segovia, you’ll see how it is supposed to be placed for max reach across the wider fret board of a classic guitar. I too am lacking in exact placement, but my right hand work is fine still, even at 64.

BTW, notice how high Segovia held his left elbow, SOMETIMES. The best current classicists hold their left elbow very high ... to cheat the lower notes while maintaining access to difficult chords.
