I have been trying to unlearn my lousy hand position that I have had since 1970. Been looking at all kinds of things on internet and youtube. Figure classical players are best guitar players and I am too old to go there, but I do have time to get better than I am at Puff the Magic Dragon, Tangled Up in Blue type stuff.
Is it permissible to turn your thumb parallel to the neck on open C’s and F’s. And is your thumb ever supposed to be bent back?

Are you serious about lyrics to the second movement of Concerto de Aranjuez? Never knew it and it’s tied with Page’s ‘White Summer’ as my favorite instrumental guitar pieces.
