Cesar's Way ^

Posted on 02/20/2010 4:01:48 PM PST by nuconvert

I know there are a number of FReepers who watch The Dog Whisperer......

Cesar Millan's pit bull, Daddy, has died. He was 16.

I guess you never watched the show so you did not see what neat dog Daddy was....

Think of all the dogs whose lives have been saved, - literally - by Milan.

My heart goes out to all those who were close to Daddy. What a terrific animal he was. All dog, all heart, and a well-behaved gentleman.

I love when FReepers start braggin about their kids and their dogs.....I love knowing a little bit about y’alls lives....it is good to know we aren't FReepin 24/7....

I have a 13 yo yellow lab....he had some “old man” bumps remove a few weeks ago...they looked so nasty I just knew they would be cancer and thankfully they were NOT.....

Love the pic of the pups thanks for sharing....

I have no love for pits, but Daddy was special..very laid back and knew exactly what Cesar wanted him to do.

Had two, both gone now. First one, Lab/Shepherd cross, and the second a purebred lab. Had dogs since I was 5. :( Not sure when/if I’ll get another.

I have always had a dog or two. Recently had to have a rescue from a kill shelter put down. Even though I had her only a year and 1/2, it was a cry all day day. She had a spontaneous fracture just running to do the door to be let out and when I took her to the vet, she also had bone cancer which explained her spontaneous shoulder fracture..She was a senior and the only choices I was given was chemo (at her age not recommended) and after that probably a complete amputation of the who front leg...

Its hard when your companion has to be put down, but I still have my lab and she is old also...but don't think I can live without a dog....

Sorry to hear. Was it the dog the vet thought may have been part 'pit'?

She had the skull and ear placement that the vet thought might be part pit 1/2 the size of my lab, but weighted 50 pounds....Could give you real dirty looks, but sweet. She sure was not the retriever that she was described to be. :O)..Both of my dogs were old so I had my son and grandson dig a grave last fall, put in a bale of straw and covered with a tarp...it was good to be prepared, in Michigan you cannot dig a grave in the winter..The ice on top of the tarp was 8 inches thick, my grandson was able to burn out the straw with lots of gasoline after I used a sledge hammer to get the ice off....She was put to rest in a blanket and son in law (always prepared) brought bags of top soil as the pile of dirt from the hole was frozen solid...She was put to rest right next to my other dog that had to be put down 9 years ago due to long time renal failure, Teesha was a good girl and got an extra 1 1/2 years by being rescued...

:) Memory is pretty good...for a few more years yet I hope.

I helped bury my dog’s Momma last year.
I had lived with her for 7 years so it was almost like losing my own dog.
She was similar to Daddy in her calm gentleness,
a great ambassador for the breed
I’m glad we were able to bury her at home
rather than leaving her body to be cremated.
It was a hard thing to do but seemed the right thing.
We laid her to rest amidst some trees
a peaceful spot were we can go and remember her.

Daddy’s original owner was Rapper Redmond and Luigi’s (grey Lhasa Apso) ‘parents’ are Pinket-Smith.

I just heard this news....so very sad. Daddy was truly a wonderfully balanced dog, trained to protect, trained to perfection, and spent most of his life in the service of rehabilitating other dogs in need.
