That’s just scary.
I have three dogs who act as a “team”.
[One Ibizan, one Portuguese Podengo Medio and one Dobermann]
The Podengo is the brains of the bunch.
The Ibizan is the cheerleader/diversionist.
The Dobermann is the brawn.
Sometimes I come home to things that make me think a *human* has broken in and wrought havoc in the living room.
So.....I got CC cameras and hooked them to a DVD recorder just to find out what was happening while I was away.
It was...shocking.
The Podengo would express interest in something beyond her short reach.
The Ibizan would bark frantically to get the Dobe awake, aware and worked up over it.
Then the Dobe [who’s much larger and taller standing up] would fetch the forbidden object and hand it to the Podengo.
Then the Podengo and the Ibizan would cheerfully tear it apart or eat it, depending.
[that’s also why the living room and the kitchen have a full height French door seperating them]
Tonight I came in the living room to find them all passing a *very* dead mouse back and forth.
Any time one gets into the house, the smaller Podengo flushes it out from under the furniture into the waiting jaws of the larger Ibizan who then hands off her catch to the Dobermann who eats it, given the chance.
Luckily, I grabbed the tail and yanked it out of his maw before he gulped it down.
[nothing like a trip to the vet to check for tapeworms]......:-P
Thanks for the extended story details!
Yep.
[she says as 6 dogs surround her, with full bellies and peaceful dreams]
Good dog bump!
I have *never* met a dog who didn’t instantly like me.
[even “guard” dogs, junkyard dogs and “bad ass” pit bulls]
It’s always *people* who try and ruin my day....LOL
“Mom” should be ashamed.
Call me crazy, but I don’t trust people who “don’t like dogs”.
9 times out of 10, the ones I’ve known turned out to be undesirable company.
[and oddly enough, dogs usually didn’t like *them* either...a sixth sense?]
It’s odd for them to be calling it a Queensland Heeler.
In America, they’re usually called Australian Cattle Dogs.

Yes ma'am they are. And take that from one who happened to be an unfortunate stranger who walked into a yard that a couple of these dogs were protecting/defending.
This breed will eat you up when they're protecting their masters territory.
I love 'em.
It is undeniably true that without dogs, human progress would have been more difficult, and less enjoyable. Truly 'Man's best friend', I miss my departed Chow-Rotweiller mix like an old friend.
I understand and am truly sorry for your loss.
“My dad still frets if I disappear for too long and Im forty-freakineight, fer cryin out loud.”
My Dad calmed once I wentinto the military, so long as I wasn’t in danger. Mom still worries if I don’t call her every three days or so.
I had to go check your page to make sure you weren’t actually my “secret sibling”....;-D
Ah, parents! I don’t think that we really appreciate them until we become parents ourselves.
