Is the 627 the 8-shot revolver?

Yes. I purchased the one with "all the toys" for her Mother's Day present. Great sights and a grip that fits her hand perfectly. She has a PC9 rifle that does a great job of eating that Wolf 9mm ammo. That was a birthday gift one year. We trade off on our purchases. We didn't buy anything last year as we have a backlog of new goodies that haven't been sighted-in yet. It wasn't a comfortable year for income either.

The feed ramp in a standard Glock barrel doesn't fully support the case head. That results in ballooning that spoils the brass. The Jarvis barrel does fully support the case head. The brass comes out pristine and reloadable.

I've been a bit dismayed at the ballooning of the case mouth on a 5.7x28 case when fired in the FiveSeven pistol. The blowback action doesn't provide good support for the case mouth. The consequence is that you generally have to move to a .223 cal bullet in place of the stock .224 cal bullet to avoid crushing the neck when seating a new bullet. Getting the ideal dies for the 5.7 makes a difference too.

Ive rediscovered revolvers, and I keep a J frame 642 in my pocket almost all the time. It hit me once a few months ago that even if the gunshops were closed for a year, around here, you could always find 38 special and 357 mag ammo or components because so many people kept a wheelgun for home defense.

We cleaned out an old house of a deceased relative and found literally hundreds of rounds of 38 special and 32 auto loose in dressers and desk drawers. That shows me that if it hits the fan, the man with a security six or a model 19 or a Colt Python with a 357 lever gun will be able to scrape up enough ammo to survive.

I even found four unopened boxes of Western oilless 148 gr 38 special wadcutters.

I want to find a used short bbl stainless Ruger Security Six in 357 for an all around fun gun for camping and for self defense. The security six was the most logically designed centerfire revolver out there, and what did they do? They discontinued it.

The 8 shooter you have would make a spectacular home defense revolver. Just get yourself some 8 round speedloaders. I’d load it with a +P 38 special round.

Isnt the 5.7 a glorified 22 magnum?

You need to get her some more magazines for the ruger carbine. The best place to look for reasonable prices is www.cdnninvestments.com
