Well, shoot. I thought I was going to see a five-second-long crash!

And I thought she crashed 10 times and I was going to see every-other one... LOL

Very appropriate.....

It really isn't funny, just tragic and heartbreaking.

It could have been worst though. ...could have been a USA skier.

It’s not often that I can claim to be able to beat an Olympic skier, but today I can make that boast. Of course, if she got up and finished, she would catch me.

Just because I didn’t laugh doesn’t mean it’s not funny.

(Admitting that is way too painful, so I don’t do it often.)

I found this comment on youtube. I wish I could claim it as my own:

It looked like she should try out for the Special Olympics.

You do realize that "epic" means "long", right? (Epic ballads have many verses, epic tales take hours to relate, etc.)

When used as a noun a would agree that "epic" is associated with something rather lengthy. However, I think when used as an adjective this is not necessarily the case.

From Merriam-Webster's: 2 a : extending beyond the usual or ordinary especially in size or scope b : heroic

They're skiing on snow that was trucked in and has turned to ice.

WRONG WRONG WRONG. Epic fail in the information department.

The downhill events are happening at Whistler, where there is LOTS of real snow. The snow was trucked in to the venue (Cypress mountain I believe) where snowboarding, moguls, freestyle, all the "wanna-be" sports are being contested.

That said, granting the Winter Olympics to a city in the only part of Canada that rarely gets snow was not the wisest decision the committee ever made.

I remember, and was genuinely sad for the poor girl.

At least she still has chocolate, though, right?

I watch the women’s ice dancing short program, and the young 15-year old from Russia was doing pretty well until she fell on what was a basic jump and spin for her that she had done a bunch of times in the warm up.

Sad. But at least for the 15 year old she will hopefully have more Olympics. The 27 year old skier? I don’t know how old is too old for that sport.

Oops - didn’t see that this story is from four years ago.

On the bright side - I can see if she is skiing at Sochi! (Like my own personal time machine!!)

Switzerland’s Dominique Gisin and Slovenia’s Tina Maze tied for women’s downhill gold on Wednesday in a thrilling first And sometimes even a smaller margin in time than that:

From Sochi, 2014:

TWO Gold Medal Winners!

“After a strength-sapping run of 2,713 metres over jumps and bumps down the gleaming Rosa Khutor slope, each swept across the finish line with exactly the same time of one minute, 41.57 seconds.

Timings to one thousandth of a second would surely have separated the two, but even then the difference would have amounted to little more than a pinch of snow on the mountainside.”

His polls are back up again, to 46% approval on Gallup.

Either the polls are biased and waaaaay off or America has fallen to communism.

Gallup was biased for a time. But it’s been pretty straight for a number of years now. The GOPe has effectively muzzled all outspoken opposition to Obama—except Cruz and Palin.
