See, and I get tired of wannabe psychologists who ride Japanese bike trying to analyze my motivates for owning a Harley, and doing so both poorly and inaccurately. Ascribing false motives to Harley owners seems to be the subtle jab de riguer amongst riders of Japanese bikes these days.
When I meet a guy who owns a Japanese bike, I just assume that he's riding it because he likes to ride it. If he didn't he would be on something else. Same for me. I'm on what I'm on, because I like it, and I'll be on it until I see something I like better.

My assessment is based on official HD advertising and American Iron magazine.
No guesswork, no speculation, no psychology, no false motives.
Does it apply equally to all HD purchasers? Of course not.
There are those who are really, really, really proud of their resale value when they plan to sell in a couple of years.
Typical HD ad in the newspaper is this:
HARLEY FOR SALE...low miles, garage kept.

and if every harley owner felt the way we'd have a very happy world.
the harley/ jap bike fight is like comparing my truck to an hummer, or my springfield to a kimber.
its not the product i have a problem with, just people that think that because they have something that brings huge name recognition with it, that its inheirantly better.
