Why is it that no other country in the world has singers try to personalize their national anthems the way singers in this country mutilate our National Anthem?
Ever hear a game between Toronto and a US baseball team?
"Oh, Canada" is sung EXACTLY the way it was written and intended. Then they get to the "Star Spangled Banner" and it's "OH-whoa, whoa, whoa, saaaa-haaay can youu-who-who-uuuu seeeee?"
Thank God for the remote and the mute.
I love The Who and also sensed that the crowed had a deep appreciation for the lyric, “We won’t get fooled again.” That said, it could be meant from either side.
I was impressed with the computerized light show.
Daltry wearing his glasses was ridiculous. He can’t go 17 minutes without wearing them? They made him look like a fuddy duddy
Other than that... Very enjoyable
No mistakes and some hard edged nice guitar embellishments on the originals.
I’m glad they go out there with a keyboardist and second guitarist to fill out the sound. I saw the original quartet and they sounded thin in person
The Who are better than the Stones on stage these days. What with a drunken Ron Wood and Mick Jagger dancing strutting like a peacock. That was OK a few decades ago. Now it’s lame and embarrassing. Daltry does not make an ass of himself
These boys still got it and they oughta go to the studio record some new material, with lesbo backup chicks filling out the high notes!
Pete Townsend has repeatedly stated the song was part of an unfinished rock opera about the future. It is based on his view of 1960s revolutionaries and how rock stars were hailed as the new gods, the new leaders, and according to his own words, “We’re not in charge of your life. Don’t be fooled by me, or them, or the old guard, or whomever. Rule your own life.” You combine this song with Going Mobile and other songs with Townsend’s lifestyle and you’d conclude he and Won’t Get Fooled Again is more libertarian.
