Bringing Satan into the equation does help to dispel that argument though. However, it does bring into doubt whether any effort on our part will have any chance to defeat the plan as it stands today. As you say, God is a tough adversary. So do we go with the flow and wait through the Tribulation for the Second Coming?

For the sake honoring Christ, and for those who still need to hear and heed truth, it is vital that enter into the fray, but realizing that it is a spiritual warfare (Ephesians 6), one involving principalities and powers above our heads in an unseen realm (Daniel 2, 9; etc.)
We are told to OCCUPY till Christ comes (Luke 19:13), not roll over and simply allow the enemy to charge, attack and take the hill. We are to “Hold the Fort,” as the spiritual song goes. Christ told the church at Thyatira, “ . . . that which ye have already, HOLD FAST TILL I COME . . .” (REV. 2:25). Then immediately He told the church at Sardis, “BE WATCHFUL AND STRENGTHEN THE THINGS WHICH REMAIN” (Rev. 3:2)
OCCUPY!
HOLD FAST TILL I COME!
BE WATCHFUL AND STRENGTHEN THE THINGS WHICH REMAIN!
Here are our orders from our Cammander in this spiritual warfare.
I hope this is just some encouragement.
So do we go with the flow and wait through the Tribulation for the Second Coming?

Because Revelation says that the the Saints are overcome by the beast. It does not say they “cut a deal” with the beast.
