With cats, though, it seems to be common. I've had a couple of cats that were borderline crazy, but my wife had a cat that was as psycho as it gets. This thing was the most ill tempered critter I've ever been around (and I grew up on a farm with a lot of ornery critters). It would growl at you if you just walked by it. It's eyes would dilate and contract rapidly when it got riled. It was possessed. She had to have it's teeth filed and claws removed so that it wouldn't hurt anyone. This was by far the fastest house cat I've ever seen, too. It like to attack your knees for no apparent reason and would do strafing runs on you when it was riled. It was also common for it to come blasting by and take food right out of your hand. Two different vets recommended that it be put down. Both agreed that it just wasn't wired right.
