It tells a federal bankruptcy court its unsecured debts are more than $15 million in excess of its assets, says the New York Times MediaDecoder. The largest debtor by far is Pendulum Media, controlled by Charlie Kireker, who took over Air America’s parent a couple of years ago. Several Air America talents are due money, since last week’s shutdown: Rachel Maddow is owed $3,952 (“which appeared to be about two-thirds of her monthly pay of $5,833”, says MediaDecoder). Ron Reagan’s company is owed $6,351. Ellis Henican is owed $1,500. Weekender Ana Marie Cox is owed $1,169 in unreimbursed expenses, and Kirerker himself is still owed $2,317 – a very small amount compared to the apparent loss on his investment in Air America.

NY Times:

http://mediadecoder.blogs.nytimes.com/2010/02/03/bankrupt-air-americas-creditors-include-rachel-maddow-ron-reagan/?scp=5&sq=radio&st=cse

Another article said some hosts like Thom Hartmann, Randi Rhodes, and Mike Malloy had left Air America long ago and they are still on the air

...on small stations with low or no ratings.

3/31/05: Air America’s Jon Sinton, in an interview with the Boston Globe: “In five years we’ll be on 600 stations”

5 years later, they are gone...and maybe were on 60 stations at most?

I liked the first comment on the second article (linked on first page)

>>Are you broadcasting on talk radio if when you talk nobody listens? Would MSNBC be on the air if it was not for GE covering its losses? Olberman has less than 100g viewers and Rachel Maddow has less than 44g. If you subtract their viewership among the Taliban using satellite dishes, Olberman reaches 7 viewers and Maddow has 3.

I hope they all get stiffed in the liquidation.

First, there's gotta be something to liquidate.

Then, they got to get in line.

Fractures my heart, 'tis true. <sob>

I’m afraid it caused barely a ripple to the Seattle Leftist station AM-1090. They just had to replace Ron Reagan and bring back Randi Rhodes. AM-1090 still has some of the most disgusting pieces of trash host that ever hit the radio.

I think this is a sad day for conservative talk radio. Without liberal talk radio, you just know the Moonbats will shove the “Fairness Doctrine” down our throats . . .
