The man was a genius. Wrote the best country songs, the best ever Cajun song and what I consider the first rock and roll song, Move It On Over.
Look at the simple structure of Your Cheatin’ Heart, and then look at the complexity in Cold, Cold Heart.
Now try writing 32 lines of 4 syllables to the line and make sense like Hank did.
I’ll hear a song of his, like Tear In My Beer, and can’t get it out of my head for a half a day. Don’t want to.
“You were on my lonely mind.”
Or “I can’t help it if I’m still in love with you.”

Landrieu is saying, “My nose is running on your shoulder.”
Or
“Bobby, I’m yours every time you say Sooooeeeee.”
