Self | Johnny

Whether his birthday was 21 January 1855 or 23 January 1855, Americans were blessed the day he was born.

I’ve subscribed to the January 21 birth date myself. :-) What a firearms genius he was; we’ll not likely see another like him.

I agree—the M1911 pistol is considered by many serious firearms experts as the greatest semi-automatic pistol ever developed. The modern Glock and Baretta 92F (M9) pistols owe a lot to the design Browning pioneered with the M1911.

Leaving the 1911 off that list is something akin to a sin.

I'll second that, and add that not mentioning the Browning High Power, the most ubiquitous military and law enforcement semi ever produced (outside of China), by name a serious offense as well. I had one of each, the 1911 and the GP35 in 1970. The GP35 'felt better' and was accurate as all get out, made by FN. Just can't say enough good about our "greatest firearms inventor the world has ever known" as FN knows him! Happy Birthday John M. Browning (today).

great link...make that John M. Browning Memorial Museum...yep, shame they renamed it something politically correct (but it is Illinois, so I consider the source)...another great visit. They’ll still know where to send you there if you ask for it by that name. Shame our HS students aren’t informed about this Greatest American hero.

Actually, that’s Ma Deuce (M2)

The Ma Duce is the Italian model, named for Mussolini's mother.
