the comment struck me as a dad who was used to giving his girls a hard time and hadn’t quite grasped he’s now on the national stage.

Exactly,,, and it’s a Dad’s job to embarrass the daughters sometimes. Ask any female for some embarrassing dad stories,, bring a chair.

I thought it was hysterical. My daughters all think it's my hobby to embarrass them - of course, they are right.

I think Brown has been successful precisely for the same reason that Palin has been so successful - he's a genuine guy, devoid of all pretense. Obama isn't. At all.

I think Martha Coakley lost that race when Barack Obama threw the Cambridge cop under the bus. That cop - like Brown - was a real guy, who the working people of Mass can and do relate to. Coakley, like Obama and Skip Gates, appeal to the Massachusetts intellectual intelligentsia, that plays well in Harvard Yard and at Tufts.

You hit it right on the head.
The way we tease one another in my family, well, it’s pretty bad and tacky at times, differenct being, we ain’t on stage when we do it and it is NOTHING BUT A WAY OF EXPRESSING LOVE....

That is exactly correct. They appear to be a close family that jokes around a lot. It was harmless. My brother who is a preacher said the very same thing about my niece at the wedding ceremony of my nephew. Of course my niece fained embarrassment but she still laughs about years later.

It kinda stuck me as father and daughter have a lot of give and take in their relationships...I thought it funny and something my father might have said. Although being a retired cop, he’d say it with his gun in his belt...
