This is the sort of crime that requires severe punishment — putting the FEAR into him is the one and only thing that might prevent this sort of sociopath from graduating to human victims.
I wonder what will happen if it turns out to be a couple of 10 year olds?
Good Lord, what kind of people do these awful things?
We just had a local guy murder his two month old baby...the same jerks that torture pets abuse and torture their own children.
God has created a special place in Hell for people who do things like that ... there’s also this story that had a happier ending: http://blog.al.com/birmingham-news-stories/2010/01/puppy_rescued_from_train_track.html
People who do things like this INEVITABLY go on to harm humans. This is how sadistic murderers start out. This person needs to be be identified and dealt with. And as for the question of what if it’s a kid, well, all the more so, a child who would do this is a little junior sociopath/psychopath in the making.
I support punishment in kind.
Glue them together. I don’t care who it was they need to be punished.
Just let the perp loose... We'll take it from there...
“Glue them together”
*snicker*
When they find the perp and he is convicted I hope they turn him loose in “general population” and let him get what is coming to hin!
I imagine we would be shocked and sickened if we knew the torture that goes on behind closed doors. Some people are sick, do sick things, but what they do is hidden.
>>I dont care who it was they need to be punished.<<\
I agree. I think where we differ is on just how much they should be punished. Peta says something like “A Boy is a Dog is a Pig is a Rat...”. For them, doing this to a kitten is the moral equivalent of doing it to a “boy”.
Reasonable people differ from that perspective - quite a bit actually. The punishment should fit the crime, however. That said, I’m trying to find anything in my constitution about kittens, unless they are the property of another person of course.
I mean, the parents should do something, yes - but the state?
“I wonder what will happen if it turns out to be a couple of 10 year olds?”
Smack the $hit out of them...they earned it.
This kind of cruelty is a sign of mental illness. It’s a warning that something is very wrong and it needs to be followed up. Society has a right to protect itself from those that lack empathy or compassion.
>>People who do things like this INEVITABLY go on to harm humans. <<
I agree with that statement. But then, I think ALL humans harm other humans, and do so intentionally. The only one to ever live that did not was Himself hung on a cross. This can lead to “more” harm being done to others.
It depends on the age of the person. If the person is a young boy (if it was a girl, she IS a problem. No I am not kidding.) we should examine what may have compelled him to do it and correct as necessary. Of course, by “we”, I mean his parents.
If it was a young man, the damage may have already been done. Then again, if it was a “hick” that was taught to draw a very thick line between the value of humans and everything else, it may just show a mean streak or anger that was being taken out on an animal INSTEAD of a human they really don’t like.
This sort of thing is very complicated. Bottom line is that it is better that it was a kitten rather than a beloved cat or dog.

Nothing surprises me coming from a state that put Al Franken in the Senate.
