“You can have religious freedom but you probably shouldn’t work in the emergency room.”
Democrat Martha Coakley was on with Ken Pittman from WBSM in Massachusetts today. Martha told Ken that if you object to abortion and are a devout Catholic then… “You probably shouldn’t work in the emergency room.”
From the interview:
Ken Pittman: Right, if you are a Catholic, and believe what the Pope teaches that any form of birth control is a sin. ah you don’t want to do that.
Martha Coakley: No we have a seperation of church and state Ken, lets be clear.
Ken Pittman: In the emergency room you still have your religious freedom.
Martha Coakley: (……uh, eh…um..) The law says that people are allowed to have that. You can have religious freedom but you probably shouldn’t work in the emergency room.

Really, Martha? Yeah, I’d rather have a secular Athiest working the ER. That way, if they judged me too old, sick, or even that I sucked down too much Carbon, they could simply dispatch me by withholding care.
Replace “Catholic” with “Muslim”.

When I was seven years old I got hit by car, I remember being wheeled into an emergency room where a nun gave me an injection and some stiches.
Just my luck, I suppose. Of course, if she hadn’t been there, Martha would have done it.
Me, I am eternally gratefully to that Catholic hospital and to the nuns who taught me to read and to love learning.
