Model Making at Its Best

The P-51D Mustang model was built by Young C Park who surprisingly is a dentist by nature. Built exactly like the original plane, it is on a 1/16 scale. Like you can imagine, a lot of hours of work has gone into it. He has worked for 6000 hours in a span of three years to finish it. The model shows the creators superior sculpting skills. In the last pictures you will also see how the wings are made over a wooden shape.

when i was going to lose a front tooth and kinda freaked about it my dentist calmed me down ecplained the bridge and sent me to where they build them. took a tour of the shop and, at the end, said “i build models and this is the same thing; molding, building, paintint, “weathering”. airbrushing.

Y’know, that’s where they take an adult woman and turn her into a child. Think of it as plucking all the feathers off the Christmas turkey.

I know you reside in the same state as I, but sometimes you're just downright bizarre.

Astonishing. I once read about a man that built a quarter scale Rolls Royce Merlin Engine of the type used in the P51 and it ran of course. I believe it was in RC Modeler. Some are real wizards.I once saw an article in Popular Science about a very small scale working V8 engine.

I built this Revell 1/72 scale model of a Gato class WW2 era submarine. Its 52" long and mine sits in a display case, this is what the same boat looks like, mine may have more detail like antenna wires, railings and some photo etch parts.

There are four cycle radial model engines built by hobby manufacturers. But the home machinists that build these things from scratch...man!
