I hear what you're saying but the big variable in this equation is ( Steve ) Jobs.

Look, the iphone sales have exploded, the App Store is a runaway success, and the whole thing syncs effortlessly into your iTunes program.

I think that Microsoft is trying to squeeze its way into a very crowded field.

The segment of the market that was going to tied to Windows Mobile is now in the process of migrating towards Google/Android. Google licenses out it's OS to manufacturers for free. There's a stampede of developers in Google's direction.

Between Apple, RIM, Palm , Nokia, and Google, I don't see Microsoft re-gaining much of a market share.

I also believe that Apple's acquisition of P.A. Semi, Lala, and Plasebase is going to wind up paying really big dividends.
