I'm not sure if the link to this book has been posted before. A search did not show that it had been. The free book in PDF format was recommended to me by New Yawk Minute. I couldn't stop reading it once I started. Even though it is over 400 pages long. I finished it in about 2 days.

I recommend right clicking on the link http://www.giltweasel.com/stuff/LightsOut-Current.pdf and downloading to your PC for reading offline. Please thank New Yawk Minute for bringing it to our attention if it is the first time you have heard about this book.

Enjoy...

I read this and then read one second after, and found the latter one more realistic.

I read both as well. I enjoyed 'Lights Out' better but they're both great reads. 'One Second After' had the advantage that the author has connections inside the government. I believe the foreword was written by Newt Gingrich.

From researching EMP on the net, it seems that more vehicles would survive as is the case in 'Lights Out'. However, maybe the government knows something we don't... ;)

Thanks for posting this.

I also read both and found lights out a real page turner (although, you arent turning, you are scrolling).

One second after, was ok. I read it after lights out, so I was a bit disappointed.

I also read, in real into on this topic, that they arent all that sure which cars would run and which wouldnt.

The scary part about all of this is, it could really happen.

If you havent checked out this pdf (lights out) go look. Just read a few pages. You wont be able to stop.

Is there any research being done to protect the civilian infrastructure from such an attack? What about next gen chips or insulation/surge-protect incorporated into everyday devices???
