As a conservative, I have really mixed emotions about this. I hate government intrusion.(I love salt). But in this case, if we are getting 30% of our salt intake from bread, something needs to be done

You might like some aspects of conservatism but you are not a conservative. I'd suggest not eating so much bread if is it's a concern. That's what a conservative does.

Conservatives have also been known to make there own bread and so as to directly control the amount of salt used when making it.

If you get 30% of your daily sodium from bread, you are eating WAY too much bread, since a 1 pound loaf of bread has less than 1/3 TEASPOON of salt. I know folks who put more than that on a SINGLE tomato, and they're still just fine at 80+
